Helicoll (Q4164)

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Helicoll is an acellular collagen matrix derived from bovine tissue (as described in wound-care product comparisons).
  • Provides structural collagen scaffolding to support tissue regeneration, while minimizing immunogenic components due to decellularization.
  • Designed to be biocompatible, supporting host cell infiltration and integration.
  • Enables ease of handling and conformability to wound beds.

Indications / Use Cases:

  • Suitable for use in chronic and acute wounds where a collagen scaffold is desirable (e.g. ulcers, surgical defects, regenerative soft tissue settings).
  • May be used as a barrier matrix in soft tissue repair where collagen support is beneficial.

Mechanism / Performance:

  • Acts as a temporary extracellular matrix scaffold: supports cellular migration, matrix deposition, and neovascularization.
  • Gradually resorbed and replaced by native tissue remodeling.

Contraindications / Warnings:

  • Avoid use in infected wounds until resolved.
  • Hypersensitivity to bovine collagen is contraindicated.
  • Single use only.

Application / Handling Instructions:

  • Rehydrate (if supplied dry) or wet gently per instructions
  • Trim to fit defect, ensuring full contact.
  • Secure with sutures, staples, or adhesives as appropriate.
  • Cover with suitable secondary dressings.
  • Monitor wound environment and progress.
